It all began in 1931

The foundation for the success story and today's impressive facts and figures of the Almi Group was laid by company founder Alfred Mittermayr with a small general store in Linz-Urfahr.

Another goal of the internationalization and expansion of the Almi Group is the continuous, absolutely reliable control and safeguarding of raw materials for all products of the entire group. Under the motto "Back to the original", the value chain is to extend from cultivation to the final product. As a raw materials specialist, the Almi Group is also the central hub for the purchase and laboratory control of all raw materials for all subsidiaries.

With six state-of-the-art, top-equipped production facilities on three continents, the Almi Group can handle any order flexible and on time. There are numerous other subsidiaries around the world that customers can contact at any time. Associated warehouses ensure that products are always available close to customers and that they are delivered quickly. All Almi Group production facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, in line with Almi Group standards.

The Almi Group employs local technologists and sales staff around the globe. This means that customers benefit from both the local knowledge of the employees and the international know-how of the group. This ensures close proximity to customers and "up-close" contact with country-specific trends. Well-founded further training of our qualified employees is one of the Almi Group's recipes for success. In the state-of-the-art technology centers of the production sites in Austria, Russia, South Africa and China, in-house technologists are trained and customers are informed about the use of Almi products as well as about various further process steps. In addition, customers can attend individually tailored seminars with highly trained technologists and experience the development of products live - from the idea, through the test phase and tasting, to the finished product.

Germ reduction

Microorganisms in raw materials are inactivated by a short, intensive steam treatment. The valuable ingredients of the herbs and spices, such as colourants and essential oils, are largely retained. By means of state-of-the-art technology, product safety and quality can thus be improved even further.

In furtherance of food optimization

As a food producer and economic partner, we always strive to make a contribution to food optimization. Through our cooperation with the Austrian Competence Centre for Feed and Food Quality Safety and Innovation (FFoQSI) and our collaboration with national and international universities, research institutes and admission boards, we meet this requirement. The research focus is on research programs which were jointly developed by industry and science on selected topics along the value chains. Scientific methods are used to research sustainable improvements in production.

The Almi Group supports Austria's leading research and innovation center along with high-ranking food technologists in order to be able to go even deeper into food research. In this international network of universities and research institutions, holistic results can be achieved. The knowledge gained from this is applied in new technologies and products. Among other things, the FFoQSI is researching the following improvements:
